Save The Taco Trucks

To:  Los Angeles City Council

As residents of Los Angeles who care about the quality of life in our city, we respectfully ask the City of Los Angeles to consider our point of view regarding the recently passed ordinance regarding catering trucks.

We understand the city's need to regulate the streets and public areas, but have not seen any evidence that taco trucks and other catering trucks do anything other then feed the hungry multitudes who depend on their low prices, high quality foodstuffs, and reliable service.

Taco trucks bring food to areas where there are no restaurants, serving people who are unable to leave their work or home for various reasons. They provide low-cost meals to all without predjudice. They are dependable and many stay in the same spots every day or night, doing a public duty as well as providing incomes for thousands of drivers, cooks, and small business people.

Taco trucks cut down on traffic as hungry workers do not need to drive to get food, saving time and money for their employers. The savings in pollution and traffic alone ought to be enough to overturn this wrong-headed ordinance.

Taco Trucks are an important part of the City of Los Angeles, and this ordinance needs to be repealed right away!
