Dear Sir,

We greatly regret that we’ve reached a time where one fifth of the Human Society get abused and humiliated in their beliefs and religions ; what made the matter getting worse is that no one has seriously carried out any kind of measures to stop this nonsense.

We write to you Mr. Secretary General, since we know that the United Nations Organization, since its establishment has upheld the task of defending the whole human community with all its aspects;

What happened in Denmark, the country which we used to consider a civilized one, of allowing one of its magazines to issue fallen cartoon caricatures that contain much harm and abuse of the highest symbol of both Arab and Muslim Nations, His Holiness our Prophet Mohammad ( Peace Be Upon Him), such vile conduct is considered a transgression and transcendence over the concept of co-existence between religions.

We’re afraid that such act of transgression would initiate open confrontation between civilizations and religions, giving way to sectarian conflict and hatred …. etc., the thing which will certainly leave a colossal negative effect over security and stability of the relations between Muslims and other religious sects in the world.

We’re quite certain that the United Nations Organization will never ever stop motionless towards such acts of transgression and transcendence over the beliefs of the human society, and that it will uphold a strong and serious stance to confront, eliminate and uproot the vicious and vile plot.

إلى صاحب الفخامة السيد كوفي أنان الأمين العام لمنظمة الأمم المتحدة

أما بعد،

إنه ليؤسفنا أن نصير إلى زمن يتعرض فيه خمس الإنسانية للطعن و التجريح في معتقداتهم و أديانهم. و إنه مما زاد الأمر سوءاً أنه لم يُتَّخَذ حتى الآن أي موقف جاد و حازم لإنهاء هذه المهزلة.

و إننا لم نبعث لكم إلا لعلمنا أن الأمم المتحدة قد أخذت على عاتقها و منذ أن أُسست مسؤولية الدفاع عن الإنسانية بكل مظاهرها.

إن ما جرى مؤخراً في الدنمارك – ذلك البلد الذي عهدناه حضارياً – من سماح لإحدى مجلاتها بنشر صور كرتونية ساقطة فيها تنقيص و طعن بالرمز الأعلى للأمتين العربية و الإسلامية ، رسول الإسلام و السلام محمد (صلى الله عليه و سلم) لهو تعدٍّ واضح لمفهوم تسامح الأديان و التعايش بين أفرادها.

إننا لنخشى أن يكون لهذا الأمر تداعيات قد تؤدي إلى تصادم الحضارات و الأديان و نشوب النزعات الطائفية و الحزازات الدينية و غيرها من التوترات الاجتماعية التي تنعكس سلباً على استقرار و أمن العلاقات بين المسلمين و الطوائف الأخرى في العالم.

و إننا على ثقة إذ نختم هذه العريضة بأن الأمم المتحدة لن تقف مكتوفة الأيدي تجاه هذا الخطر المحدق بالإنسانية و أنها ستقف موقفاً جاداً و حازماً لدرء هذه الفتنة و استئصال جذورها.
